How do we respond to change?

As humans, we spend most of our time not consciously thinking about what we are doing – whether it's at the start of the day - getting out of bed, making a cup of tea or coffee, showering and getting ready – or in the everyday tasks of our job, we do things on 'autopilot.' When we ask someone to act, think, or behave differently, we ask them to pull up from their subconscious thinking and put effort and focus into additional activities. They must consciously choose actions they'd have completed automatically and put mental effort into something their brain has previously automated. This natural response means it will feel hard regardless of what changes.
